Iraq Repatriates 11 Migrants From Libya as Identification Efforts Continue

Iraq repatriated 11 migrants from Libya to Erbil via Turkey, according to Ahmed al-Sahaf, the Iraqi embassy’s chargé d’affaires in Libya. He said the return brings the number of migrants repatriated by the embassy since it reopened in Tripoli to 402.

The embassy has also started DNA procedures, with Libyan Red Crescent coordination, to identify 18 bodies suspected of belonging to Iraqi nationals. The work comes amid continuing uncertainty over Kurdish and other Iraqi migrants reported missing in Libya or on Mediterranean crossing routes.
