Qatar and Iraq create joint business council
Business chambers from Qatar and Iraq signed an MoU to deepen private-sector ties and promote investment, trade and SME cooperation.
Qatar Chamber and the Federation of Iraqi Chambers of Commerce signed a memorandum of understanding in Doha to establish the Qatar-Iraq Joint Business Council. The proposed council is intended to connect companies and entrepreneurs in both countries and expand cooperation, including for small and medium-sized businesses.
At the meeting, participants reviewed about 60 investment opportunities connected to Iraq’s Development Road project, estimated by the parties at $250 billion. The opportunities span transport and logistics, industrial zones and manufacturing, energy, oil and gas, agriculture, ICT, real estate and tourism; they represent projects under consideration rather than committed investments.
