Iraqi forces intercept boat carrying 90kg of narcotics
Authorities said three foreign suspects were arrested after a sea operation in Iraqi territorial waters, while a fourth suspect remains at large.
Iraq’s Interior Ministry said security forces seized 90 kilograms of narcotics from a boat in the country’s territorial waters after receiving an initial intelligence lead from a neighboring country. The operation involved the navy and military intelligence, according to the ministry.
Three foreign suspects were detained after the boat was intercepted, while authorities said they were continuing to pursue a fourth person who escaped. The seizure comes as Iraq steps up operations against drug-trafficking networks and prosecutions of suspected traffickers.
