Iraqi Forces Intercept 90kg Drug Shipment at Sea
Authorities say three foreign suspects were arrested after an intelligence-led naval operation in Iraqi waters.
Iraqi authorities said they seized 90 kilograms of narcotics in the country’s territorial waters after tracking a suspect boat using an intelligence tip from a neighbouring country. The operation involved the navy and military intelligence, the Interior Ministry said.
Three foreign suspects were arrested and a fourth person escaped, according to the ministry. The case comes amid a wider Iraqi crackdown on trafficking networks and renewed concern about the country’s role on regional drug-smuggling routes.
