Iraq ranks third among Arab official gold holders

Iraq held 175.6 metric tons of gold in September, placing it third among Arab countries after Saudi Arabia and Lebanon, according to World Gold Council figures cited by Shafaq News. Its holdings were up from 162.7 tons a year earlier.
The reserve data provide a snapshot of Iraq’s official asset base at a time when currency stability and access to foreign exchange have become central economic concerns.
