Iraq moves 2 million barrels of crude through Hormuz
Iraq’s Oil Tankers Company said a VLCC carried the cargo through the Strait of Hormuz in a first operation of its kind for decades.
Iraq’s Oil Tankers Company transported 2 million barrels of Iraqi crude aboard a very large crude carrier through the Strait of Hormuz, according to a company statement reported by Reuters. The company described it as its first such operation in decades.
The voyage is significant because Iraq is seeking to preserve export capacity while maritime routes face disruption and higher costs. Oil-export continuity remains crucial for public revenue and foreign-currency inflows.
