Iraq advances plan to own crude-oil tankers
The national tanker company says studies are complete after it resumed moving Iraqi crude.
Iraq’s oil sector is advancing a plan for the state tanker company to own large crude-oil carriers. The company says it has completed studies and an economic feasibility assessment for the project.
Officials said the company recently resumed transporting crude after years of interruption and moved about 2 million barrels. Building an Iraqi-owned fleet could give Baghdad more control over part of its export supply chain.
