Civil Defence issues dust-storm safety guidance
Authorities urged Iraqis to limit travel, drive cautiously and call 911 in emergencies.
Iraq’s Civil Defence Directorate issued public safety advice as dense dust reduced visibility. It urged people to avoid unnecessary travel, secure loose objects, keep away from vulnerable structures and use hazard lights if driving is unavoidable.
The guidance also warns against sheltering beneath large trees or near exposed electrical wires. The advisory is especially relevant for commuters, families and people with respiratory conditions during the dust event.
