Parliament Starts Scrutiny of Iraq’s 2027 Budget
Lawmakers and the finance minister reviewed the initial 2027 budget framework, including revenue diversification and spending reform.
Iraq’s parliamentary Finance Committee hosted Finance Minister Faleh Al-Sari to examine preparation of the 2027 federal budget. Talks covered allocations, fiscal distribution and the planned rollout of programme- and performance-based budgeting.
The committee also focused on increasing non-oil revenue, reducing deficits, containing spending and maintaining dinar stability. Lawmakers said an integrated approach is needed to address longer-term structural pressures on public finances.
