Parliament Reviews Customs Digitisation and Anti-Corruption Measures
A parliamentary committee inspected the General Customs Authority’s operations and the rollout of the ASYCUDA digital customs system.
The Border Crossings and National Product Protection Committee visited the General Customs Authority to assess customs procedures and oversight mechanisms. Members reviewed the authority’s control room, which monitors goods moving through Iraq’s border crossings.
The committee highlighted implementation of the ASYCUDA system as a tool to streamline clearance processes and reduce corruption risks. It also examined the implementation of a 2025 cabinet resolution on customs-tariff changes.
