Iraqi proposal puts AI at the heart of VAR reviews
A local sports technology concept proposes an AI assistant to speed up video-review decisions.
Iraqi technology specialist and sports commentator Ahmed Younis has proposed an AI-assisted VAR system intended to identify key incidents, select useful camera angles and organise the sequence of play for officials.
The concept would leave the final decision with the referee rather than an algorithm. Its backers see an eventual pilot using Iraq Stars League footage as a way to test the system’s speed and accuracy.
