Election Commission Seeks Funding for 2027 Provincial Polls
Parliament’s Finance Committee reviewed the electoral commission’s operational needs, voting technology and preparations for provincial council elections.
The Finance Committee met members of the Independent High Electoral Commission to discuss budget requirements and technical preparations for upcoming electoral events. The talks included whether funding can be reallocated within the commission’s existing budget.
Commission officials said they are preparing for provincial council elections in 2027. Lawmakers also reviewed possible changes to the electoral commission law, polling-station capacity and the use of national identity cards alongside biometric voter cards.
